Kolahoi Base Camp Trek is one of the easiest Kashmir treks which travels through the emerald green valleys, with thick forested slopes and crisscrossed by the gushing streams, up into a terrain of alpine meadows from where one can imbibe the breath-taking panoramic views of the snowcapped Himalayan range. Moving along at a comfortable pace makes the Kolahoi Base Camp Trek a perfect soft adventure for beginners and families with children. The stunning view of the peaks soaring towards the sky at the Pirpanjal and Karakoram horizon are simply worth capturing.
Duration: 6 Nights - 7 Days
Day 01, Arrive Srinagar (1585 m):
On coming, you will be met at the airport (or the Visitor Reception Centre if you travelled overland) & shifted to the houseboat/hotel for your overnight remain. There will be an afternoon Shikara ride on Dal Lake.
Day 02, Srinagar - Aru via Pahalgam (2420m). 4 hours approx.:
Early in the morning begin is imperative as it’s a long transact of 105 km to Aru, a lovely lush green grassland with the outstanding Katrinag Mountains as a backdrop. Afternoon at vacation or a few short walks to stretch the legs for the days ahead. Overnight in tents on a twin share basis.
Day 03, Aru - Lidderwat (3050m). 3- 4 Hours, 11 km:
Lidder River, crossing the odd side stream. As we near camp the valley narrows; a footbridge leading us to our campsite.
Day 04, Lidderwat - Satlanjan (3420m). 2-3 hours:
A short and easy day today to help with acclimatization, we trek along the true right of the gushing waters of the Lidder River on an undulating, occasionally steep, trail. We cross five tributaries of a side river beside the Gujars encampment and continue with a gentle descent towards a lush green meadow beside the Lidder River for our overnight camp. There is an optional acclimatization sidewalk to a ride in the afternoon.
Day 05, Satlanjan - Kolahoi base camp (4140m) - Lidderwat (3050m) 8 hr:
An early morning begin is imperative as we have a long daytime ahead of us. Our hike begins upwards & onwards as we head towards Kolahoi Base Camp, passing nomadic shepherds en-route. As we get closer to the glacier the walk becomes a little harder as the land becomes rough glacial moraine, but the increasingly outstanding views of the Kolahoi Peak urge us on. In order to gain the greatest view of Kolahoi, we may have to climb a little higher on the ridge opposite. The return walk is easier and quicker as we head back to Lidderwat via Satlanjan, elated from being so close to the majestic peak.
Day 06, Lidderwat - Srinagar (1585 m ):
After a leisurely breakfast, we retrace our steps down to Aru and board our chartered bus/car to drive to Srinagar for an overnight stay at houseboat.
Day 07, Depart Srinagar:
You will be shifted to Srinagar airport or the Visitor Reception Center for overland.
