Har Ki Dun is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Western Himalayas. It is nestled in the middle of a cradle-shaped vale below the Har Ki Dun peak. A delight for trekkers, both in summer and winter, this valley is accessible through Govind National Park – known for its rich variety of flora and fauna. The trail through alpine meadows, moraine ridges, glacier basins, pine forests and ancient villages, gives you spectacular valley views and a chance to experience the wonderful slow-paced local lifestyle.
Duration: 8 Nights - 9 Days
Day 01, Delhi – Dehradun – Mussoorie:
AC train from New Delhi railway station will come at Dehradun by noon. On coming, you will meet your tourism guide, who will shifting you to the hotel in Mussoorie for an overnight remain. During the transact, you can enjoy the majestic loveliness of Dehradun & Mussoorie.
Day 02, Mussoorie – Sankri:
After having breakfast, on the 2nd day, you will transact to Sankri, which is starting point of our trek. On a trip to Sankri, you will pass through attractions like Purola, Kempty Falls & Mori. Before embarking on the trek, ensure that you have enough of bottled drinking water & energy bars to keep you going. After your coming in the vicinity, you will check-in a hotel or traveler rest house.
Day 03, Sankri – Taluka:
The daytime will start with healthy breakfast & then go for a transact to Taluka, which is 14 km/4-5 hrs away from Sankri. During the transact, one can witness the magical loveliness of the surroundings & also enjoy the superb views of the towering mountains & dense forest. You will be transferred to a hotel, once you will come at Taluka. Taluka has guest houses & a few shack shops offering daily provisions to the local inhabitants. Overnight in traveler rest house/tent.
Day 04, Taluka – Osla:
Wake up in the morning, enjoy the breakfast & start your trekking campaign to the Osla Village, a small hamlet on one side of the Rupin River. At the beginning, the trail descends, further it will lead to left side of the valley, which later adjoins the Rupin River. After having trekking for few kilometers, travelers will see the dense forest of Chestnut, Walnut & Willows trees. Further, the trail will take you to the Gangar village, & after crossing streams & climbing, you will reach a point from where they can enjoy the panoramic view of Oslo village. Next stopover point will be Seema Village, a mini town on the in front side of Osla village, separated by the swift river. Overnight in sightseer rest house ortent.
Day 05, Osla – Har – Ki Dun:
The trekking trail to Har – Ki Dun from Oslo beginning from the left side of the valley & further passes through the fields, followed by a bridge that crosses the Rupin River. Next stopover point is Kalkatti Dhar, from where one can enjoy the view of Har Ki Dun valley. Look out for Kalang (black peak) and Bandarpoonch ranges when you are close to Kalkatti Dhar. From Kalkatti Dhar, there is an uphill climb to Har KI Dun valley. After about 6 to 7 hrs, finally come at Har Ki Dun valley; overnight remian in Har Ki Dun valley.
Day 06, Har Ki Dun:
The 6th day is meant for calming. After the healthy breakfast, you can travel the valley, capture some superb views on the camera, or just chill at the campsite. Also, you can see the rarely found Brahma Kamal flower around Morinda Lake, an attractive alpine lake that can be covered with a short trek from the campsite. If you are still up for exercise & stiff climbing, you head northeast up the valley 4 km to the Jaundar glacier. This may need technical skills & it may be better to walk up just a couple of kilometers there and back. Night in Har Ki Dun campsite.
Day 07, Har Ki Dun – Osla:
Come back to the same way to civilization. Overnight remain in Osla village traveler rest house/ tent.
Day 08, Osla – Taluka:
The 8th day is the 2nd last day of the trek, covering a distance of 13 km through steeper terrains & spectacular vicinage with sights of migratory birds disappearing in the snow-peaked mountains. Overnight remain at the guest house or hotel in Taluka.
Day 09, Taluka – Sankri - Dehradun - Delhi:
The trek for the last daytime is relaxing & great walk through the forest & on manmade roads. This daytime is highlighted by a back transact to Dehradun. Following your coming in Dehradun; at about 05 pm, the adventure of the Har Ki Dun trekking comes to an end.
